Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where is your clinic located?

Description goes hereI see most of my clients in their homes. I also rent a treatment room at Third Space Movement located at Douglas Street and Bay Street. There is free parking. The treatment room is smaller, so it's best for people with vestibular conditions and facial palsy. There isn't quite enough space for people with complex neurological conditions.

  • How do I book an appointment?

Please contact the clinic manager at Neuro Zone Physiotherapy via email or phone. She will get your contact information and find an appointment time for you.

  • How many visits will I need?

There are such a wide number of diagnoses and starting points, that it isn’t one size fits all. At our first appointment, we’ll discuss what we think you’ll need to achieve your goals, and we’ll keep in mind any financial concerns.

  • Do I need a doctor referral?

No, a doctor referral isn’t necessary to access physiotherapy care. However, if you have private insurance, you may need a doctor referral for your plan to process your claim.

  • What does the first visit involve?

Given that neurological conditions present very differently and there are so many different types of conditions, each assessment and treatment will be unique to the individual. In general, we’ll talk about your history, your goals, and any questions you may have. We will then go through an assessment of your movement and come up with a treatment plan with your input. There will be some key take away points, and often some homework. First sessions are 1 hour, and 1.5 hours for facial palsy. There is always a lot to go through during a first assessment. We will make sure we go over any of your priorities and questions.

  • How do I prepare for the first appointment?

Nothing is necessary, but it’s helpful to have a general history of things you’re having difficulty with and a list of medications and other medical conditions.

  • What part of Victoria do you work in?

Through my work at Neuro Zone, I see clients in Victoria, BC in their homes, parks, and care facilities. I’m able to adapt our session to the physical environment. For example, there’s lots we can do from a recliner, the kitchen counter, or a park bench. I can also see clients on telehealth throughout British Columbia. I also rent a treatment room at Third Space Movement which is located at Douglas Street and Bay Street (free parking).

  • Do you do virtual appointments?

Yes, I can see patients through telehealth in British Columbia.

  • I don't have a diagnosis yet, can you still help me?

Yes. Having a diagnosis isn’t necessary for making improvements. In physiotherapy, we always treat what we find. If you have weakness, we’ll work on strengthening. If you have balance issues, we’ll do balance exercises. So it’s not necessary to have a diagnosis.
